‘守Shǒu’, a cotemporary dance performance by Leo, Matt, Nourelle and Chun Wai was a moving piece choregraphed by Jinn Lau.

‘守Shǒu’ transformed the memories and stories of old artisans into a personalised vocabulary of movements, which explored the changing roles of hands right from infancy to adulthood and how they weaved the stories of artisans into a thought-provoking choreography to reflect the reality and fate of the traditional handicraft artisans in Butterworth.

Thanks to the selfless sharing and contributions from a group of wonderful counterparts including:

Choreographer: Lau Beh Chin (Jinn)

Performers: Leo Yap, Matt Tan, Nourelle, Tai Chun Wai.

Scenography:

Lau Beh Chin & Claudia den Boer

Lighting Designer: Joie Koo

Dramaturg: Kathyn Tan Chai Chen

We find ourselves very grateful to have

Purple Cane event hall,

C-Section, Butterworth

with us for this creative process.

They have been the very important partners, providing the space and energy to cultivate and support us throughout the process of creating, exploring and shaping of Shǒu.
